Federal government is making all out efforts to enhance standard of education and literacy rate in the country.

This has been stated by Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman in an interview with Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur correspondent Sajjad Parvez.

The Minister referred to "Apna School Programme" and "Maktab Scheme" aimed at bringing maximum number of children to schools, which would be launched soon.

He said that under the Maktab system, initially one hundred such schools at a total cost of fifty million rupees would be opened in mosques across the country to teach Quran along with free education up to primary level. Federal government has already released the amount for this pilot project.

Baligh-ur-Rehman said the government had increased the Higher Education Commission budget from forty five billion rupees to one hundred and seventy billion rupees.
