Election Tribunal orders re-polling in NA-122
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announces to challenge the verdict in Supreme Court
The Election Tribunal has termed the election result of both National Assembly constituency NA-122 Lahore and Punjab Assembly constituency PP-147 Lahore as null and void.
The Tribunal Judge, Kazim Malik, in his verdict ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold re-polling in both the constituencies.
The PML(N) candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had won the election from NA-122 in 2013 elections.
The election appeal was filed by the losing candidate of PTI in NA-122, Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that he would go into appeal against judgement of the Election Tribunal.
Talking to newsmen in Lahore on Saturday, he said we respect verdict of the Tribunal but have reservations about the basis on which the election has been declared null and void.
He said there is reference to electoral irregularities in the verdict and he cannot be held responsible for this.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that verdict of the Election Tribunal in NA-122 is part of the legal process and all political parties should respect the judgment.
In a statement he said that his party would use its legal right in the matter.
