PM-DAY

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed the resolve to protect environment and conserve natural resources in collaboration with provincial governments.  

In his message, on the occasion of World Earth Day on Saturday, he stressed the need for increasing green cover and protecting biodiversity in the country.

Prime Minister expressed confidence that Green Pakistan Programme will help fast track achievement of the core objectives.

Nawaz Sharif said that it is the duty of every Pakistani to preserve our natural endowments for our coming generations.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Climate Change Ministry in a statement has said that the day provides an opportunity to all of us to jointly raise public awareness about the well-being of the endangered planet.

PRESIDENT:

President Mamnoon Hussain has underlined the need for promoting the culture of book reading amongst the young lot in order to realize the dream of a safe and bright future as envisioned by the founding fathers of the country.    

He was addressing the book fair organized by National Book Foundation in Islamabad on Saturday.  

The President pointed out that the world is currently faced with multiple challenges, including terrorism and extremism.

He said these challenges can only be tackled after looking into their social, economic, political and historical factors.       

Referring to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the President said that Pakistan will achieve economic stability after the operationlization of the project.     

Over one hundred book publishers and sellers are participating in the three-day event. 

DAR.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says One belt One road vision of Chinese President will benefit half of world's population.

Talking to his Chinese counterpart in Washington on Saturday, he said Pakistan will play its due role to carry forward this vision.

The Minister said Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is also a great initiative of China and Pakistan has always been its supporter.

The Chinese Finance Minister congratulated Ishaq Dar on putting Pakistan economy on robust growth track.

AHSAN:

Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal says optimistic approach is must to turn the dreams of progress into reality.

Addressing a prize distribution ceremony at a school in Lahore on Saturday, he said political stability and hard work will make Pakistan one of the top twenty-five economies of the world by 2025.

The Minister said that new advancements are taking place in education and teachers should groom minds  which in future could emerge as scientists.

He said the government is utilizing all available resources  to equip new generation with modern knowledge.        

MARRIYUM INTERVIEW

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says all the political parties should honour the verdict of the Supreme Court in letter and spirit and avoid its interpretations.

In an interview tonight, she said that all the five judges have rejected prays of the petitioners. She said that PTI is confused over the decision.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that next general elections will be held in 2018 and PML-N will win the elections on the basis of its performance.

ISPR

Thirty-three suspects having links with banned outfits were arrested during search operations by security forces in different areas of Balochistan on Saturday.

According to ISPR, 30 suspects were arrested in Punjgur and three in adjoining areas of Quetta while three camps of terrorists were also destroyed.

Huge cache of ammunition and number of communication devices were also recovered.                                 

HAJJ:

The designated braches of commercial banks will continue to receive Hajj applications under the government scheme tomorrow.

The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that all banks will receive Hajj forms on closed holiday to facilitate the intending pilgrims.

Last date for submission of Hajj applications is 26 April whlie  draw will be held on 28 of April.

KKH:

Karakorum highway has been blocked for all types of traffic between Gilgit and Rawalpindi.

The Highway was hit by landslides caused by torrential rains in Jijal and Loter Nallah in Kohistan.

REPATRIATION:

The repatriation of Temporarily Displaced People of North Waziristan agency from Afghanistan has begun.

Sources of  Political administration  told our Peshawar correspondent that so far  two hundred  families have arrived  at Bakahakhel camp near Bannu.

Sources said eight hundred displaced families will return by 29th of this month from Afghanistan.

SINDH-CABINET:

Sindh cabinet has approved extension in Rangers' policing powers for the next ninety days.

The approval was accorded at a meeting of the provincial cabinet with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the chair in Karachi on Saturday.

The meeting reviewed the prevailing law and order in the province with focus on Karachi and decided to further enhance capacity of Police force.

The policing powers have been extended as per anti-terrorism act and under the act, Sindh Rangers can arrest the terrorists, extortionists, target killers and other criminals.

Addressing the meeting Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah appreciated the role played by Sindh Rangers in combating criminals and assisting the police in restoring peace and tranquility in Karachi.                   

AFGHANISTAN:

In Afghanistan,the death toll in yesterday's attack on a military headquarters in Mazar-i-Sharif has risen to 140.

Afghan defence ministry in a statement said that more than one hundred soldiers have been wounded in the attack.

BAJWA.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has also condemned the terrorist attack at Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan.

In his message, he expressed deep grief on loss of innocent lives and expressed solidarity with Afghan security forces and brotherly resilient Afghan nation.

Army Chief said that terrorists are our common enemy and we shall defeat them.

FO:

Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a military base in Balkh province of Afghanistan which resulted in the loss of many precious human lives.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesman reaffirmed Pakistan's continued commitment to work closely with the Afghan government and the international community in the fight against the scourge of terrorism.

KASHMIR:

In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders have strongly condemned the threatening statements of BJP leaders against the Kashmiri people.

The BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav, had complimented an Indian Army officer for tying a youth to an army jeep's bonnet as a human shield while the puppet Minister for Industries Chander Prakash Ganga said Kashmiri youth should be dealt with bullets.

The Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in their statements said that India has declared a war against the innocent Kashmiris. 

FRANCE-VOTING:

In France, polling for presidential election will be held tomorrow.  

The voting will be followed by a runoff on seventh of next month between the top two candidates.

WEATHER:

Dust-thunderstorm,rain associated with gusty winds and few hailstorms is expected at scattered places  in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,  Punjab, Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and at isolated places in Quetta , Zhob divisions during the next twelve hours.

Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country .
