Renowned writer, poet, and human rights activist Fahmida Riaz passed away in Lahore on Wednesday night.

She was 72.

In his condolence message, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said Fahmida Riaz was a strong voice for women's right and democracy in the country.

Paying rich tribute to her services in the field of literature, he said the vacuum created by her death cannot be filled easily.
