Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says international community must not abandon Afghanistan at this critical juncture and play a constructive role for peace and stability.
Talking virtually to Foreign Press Association on the sidelines of 76th Session of United Nations General Assembly in New York, he said Pakistan wants peace and stability in Afghanistan and playing a vital role to achieve this goal.
He said the situation in Afghanistan is rapidly evolving and hoped that Taliban interim government will fulfill the expectations of international community.
He said an inclusive government is being expected to be formed in Kabul and statements made by Taliban leadership in this regard are encouraging.
The Foreign Minister said it is also expected that Taliban leadership will not allow anyone to use Afghanistan's soil for terrorism against any country.
He welcomed the allocation of 1.2 billion dollars in Geneva for human assistance in Afghanistan.
The Foreign Minister said India has further complicated the situation in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir through its illegal and unilateral steps of 5th August 2019.
