Muzakra session "Gandhara - A Glorious Heritage of Pakistan" on Thursday

The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage Islamabad will hold a scholarly discussion on "Gandhara - A Glorious Heritage of Pakistan" on Thursday under its Muzakra series.

The event is being organized by Lok Virsa's Research Centre with the aim to cover key areas of the Gandharan civilization and the magnificent cultural legacy of Pakistan.

Culture expert speaker for this discussion would be Dr Kiran Shahid Siddiqui.

Dr Siddiqui is an Assistant Professor at Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations TIAC, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.

She is a specialist in the art-history of South Asia, and holds a doctoral degree in this subject.

The speaker will highlight the History and Geography of Ancient Gandhara region Gandhara Art: Origin, rise and decline, Subject Matter of Gandhara Art, Important cultural centres of Gandhara, various foreign influences on Gandhara Art, spread of art beyond the borders of Gandhara and continuity of artistic activities in modern times.

Muzakra is an interactive session in which audience can engage with the guest speakers during the question and answer session.

It is regular part of Lok Virsa’s activities to preserve and promote the various forms of heritage in the country, said the organizers. 

This is also a free session, open to public.
