LG polls: ECP bans transfer of officers in Sindh, Punjab
Chief Election Commissioner assures that electoral code of conduct to be implemented in letter and spirit in Punjab and Sindh.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) at its meeting in Islamabad on Monday discussed matters pertaining to conduct of local government elections in Punjab and Sindh provinces.
In his remarks, the Chief Election Commissioner assured that electoral code of conduct will be implemented in letter and spirit for the holding of free and fair local government elections in the two provinces.
The chief secretaries of Punjab and Sindh and high-ranking police officials attended the meeting.
Briefing the media after the meeting in Islamabad, Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqub said ban has been imposed on appointment and transfer of officers in Punjab and Sindh.
He said the commission has so far not received any written request for deployment of Rangers in the local government elections.
