Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the persons especially children suffering from Down syndrome require special attention.      

In a special message on World Down Syndrome Day, he said that awareness is required regarding mental illness so that preventive measures should be taken and special Children are no less than normal ones in terms of talent and capability.

The Chief Minister said that the abilities of special children can be utilized and streamlined after providing them with best facilities.

He said that the purpose of World Down Syndrome Day is to create awareness among the people about the diseases like Down Syndrome.            

He underlined that the lack of knowledge regarding the mental illness and the delay in the treatment results in health rampage.

Shahbaz Sharif said that it is the state responsibility to look after the special needs and education of these children.

He said that the Punjab Government has worked vigorously to provide the facilities in the education departments for special children and it is a priority of the government to create awareness in people regarding mental diseases.               

He said that we should continue our efforts for providing best facilities to special children suffering from Down Syndrome disease.
