Construction work on Dasu power project to be executed soon: NA told
Abid Sher Ali informed the House that as per PC-I, the project cost is Rs 486,093.30 million.
Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has said that construction work on Dasu Dam project will be executed in the next few months.
He told the National Assembly during question hour that as per PC-I, the project cost is 486,093.30 million rupees.
The Minister of State said the World Bank has approved the financing of Stage-I of Dasu Hydropower project.
Abid Sher Ali informed the House that work on Munda Dam will also be started by the end of this year. He said the dam is in study phase and its detailed engineering design, preparation of PC-I and tender documents are in progress.
Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi told the House that it is a fact Pakistan Steel Mills has been stopped functioning due to the non-supply of gas for more than seven months.
He said the Pakistan Steel Mills is also on the privatization list of the government. He said the Federal Government also offered Sindh Government to buy this entity.
Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar told the House that there are about eight million cases suffering from Hepatitis C in the country.
She said about eighty thousand die each year due to liver disease. She said the government is negotiating with the Shifa International Hospital on a package for liver transplant under Prime Minister's National Health Programme.
She pointed out that a liver transplant facility will be established in the country in cooperation with Bahrain.
Answering a question, Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Balighur Rehman on behalf of Minister for Religious Affairs informed the House the government is considering to reduce the Hajj package this year.
The National Assembly passed a resolution strongly condemning the yesterday's attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.
The resolution moved by Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique paid tributes to the martyred students, teachers and personnel of law enforcing agencies. It also prayed for early recovery of the injured.
The resolution said that the nation will unitedly take the war on terror to its logical end.
The House expressed the resolve that the Federal and provincial governments and Parliament with the support of the people will take every possible step to make the country peaceful, stable and safe.
The House through the resolution also expressed the resolve that work will continue on war footings to bring the culprits involved in the terrorist incidents to justice.
Speaking on a point of order, Minister for Water and Power told the House that at about 3.15 pm today, 500 KV transmission line in Guddu caught fire disrupting the supply of electricity to Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Islamabad.
Replying to a calling attention notice by Sher Akbar Khan and others regarding forced load-shedding by the PESCO in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Al assured the system will be improved by the end of this year.
Responding to another call attention notice, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said a committee setup by Islamabad High court is looking into the issue of regularization of contract teachers of Islamabad.
The National Assembly passed Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (Conversion) Bill, 2015 and "The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016". The bills were moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed and Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid. The House also passed other bills.
The house has now been prorogued.
