Campaign begins for Iran's presidential election to be held in May
In Iran, campaigning officially started today for the country's presidential election to be held next month.
Guardian Council has approved six candidates for the May 19 vote, including incumbent President Hassan Rouhani.
However, hardline former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was disqualified.
Iran's top leaders regard the election in part as a show of defiance against renewed U.S. pressure under President Donald Trump.
