French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have called for an immediate end to combat operations and an unfettered humanitarian access in Syria.                         

The two leaders held a joint phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin following their meeting in Brussels.

They also wished to meet with Russian President and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to defuse the crisis in Syria.
