United States has warned to impose tariffs on cars imported from the European Union if a trade deal is not reached between the two sides.

The warning came after the US. Commerce Department submitted a report to the President on whether imported cars and parts pose a national security threat under Section 232 of US Trade Law.

Meanwhile, European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas in a news briefing in Brussels said the EC would react in a swift and adequate manner.
