The 26th session of the National Assembly began in Islamabad today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.

The chair announced the panel of Presiding Officers for the current session. These are Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Mahmood Bashir Virk, Nawab Yusuf Talpur, Mian Abdul Manan, S. A. Iqbal Qadri and Naeema Kishwar.

The House also observed one minute silence over the incidents of Paris and Lebanon.

The government plans to launch vocational programme to train one hundred and twenty thousand youth in the value added sectors including textiles.

Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan told the National Assembly during question hour that the government has announced several measures in the budget to bolster the textile sector.

The measures include reducing markup rate on exports finance. He said the textile policy 2014-19 envisages several short to long-term initiatives to double the exports of textile sector from 13 billion dollars to 26 billion dollars.

He said our exports to the European Union have increased by 12.50 percent as a result of steps taken by the government.

Khurram Dastgir said the government also plans to organize a Textile Expo at the start of next year to showcase the country's textile products.
