Army Chief calls on US Vice-President
General Raheel Sharif says terrorism is a global threat and it warrants coordinated global response
Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called on US Vice President Joe Biden in Washington and discussed bilateral relations and regional issues.
He also met Chairman Richard Burr and Vice Chairman Dianne Feinstein of the US Senate Committee on Intelligence and discussed matters relating to regional issues and counter-terrorism.
The US Senators lauded the anti-terrorism strategy of Pakistan. He said Pakistan has forced terrorists on the back foot and has turned the tide of terrorism.
Director General, ISPR, Lt Gen Asim Bajawa said the Senators noted Pakistan Army's perseverance and commitment which had degraded militant networks in Pakistan.
He said leadership of the Intelligence Committee acknowledged that Pakistan has turned the tide of terrorism. They assured the US support and cooperation in eradicating terrorism and extremism.
