In occupied Kashmir, people staged demonstrations in Srinagar, Pulwama and Kangan today in favour of freedom and Pakistan.

Indian police resorted to baton charge and teargas shelling in Kawdara, Gojwara, Nowhatta and Kangan areas to disperse the protesters. Several protesters were injured.

All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led a big procession in Pulwama. People waved Pakistani flags and shouted slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad” and “We want freedom”.

Addressing the protestors, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri people for a just cause will not go waste.

Dukhtaran-e-Millat, in a statement in Srinagar, strongly condemned the continued illegal detention of party Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi.

Illegally detained Hurriyet leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in a statement, appreciated Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif for raising the Kashmir dispute at his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry.

The occupation authorities continued to place the veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani and several other pro-liberation leaders under house arrest.
