PM in Ashgabat to hold talks with Turkmen leadership
Formal welcome ceremony in honor of PM Nawaz Sharif held at Azadi Square.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived in Ashgabat on a two-day official visit to Turkmenistan.
The foreign minister of Turkmenistan received the Prime Minister at the airport.
A formal welcome ceremony in honor of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was held at Azadi Square in Ashgabat.
On arrival at the Azadi square, he was received by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
On the occasion, anthems of both the countries were played.
The Prime Minister held one on one meeting with the president of Turkmenistan
During his stay, the PM will discuss cooperation in different sectors including trade. The two countries will also sign a number of agreements and MoUs for cooperation in diverse fields.
In his pre-departure statement, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan attaches great importance to enhancing its relations with Central Asian Republics.
He said government has a vision of increasing energy, trade and rail and road links with central asian states.
Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will go to Kyrgyzstan He will hold meeting with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev.
During the delegation-level talks the two sides will discuss issues of mutual cooperation in various fields.
A few MoUs and agreements are likely to be signed during the visit.
