Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the government is determined to increase the volume of economy and trim down  tax rate during the next three years.

He was talking to a delegation of Presidents of Chambers of Commerce  and Industries on Tuesday.

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Tariq Bajwa and Mian Manan MNA were also present during the meeting.

President Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Suhail Bin Rashid expressed confidence in the measures being taken by the government to strengthen the economy.

Ishaq Dar said that it is very encouraging that Chambers fully endorse our policies to increase the tax net and asked them to identify the sectors, which could be subject to the new taxes.  

The meeting discussed deputing of FBR officials in various  processing industries under the 40B.

Regarding budget proposal, President FCCI Engineer said that the tax net should be broadened without any harassment. He said that tax recovery matters could be taken in consultation  with representatives of CCIs and trade bodies.  He said that taxpayers must be given right of two appeals  after serving them notices.

President FCCI assured full support to the government in expanding tax base.
