Country Representative of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) Cesar Guedes has lauded Pakistan for taking effective measures to control drugs to save lives of innocent people across the world.

Talking to Radio Pakistan's News and Current Affairs channel on Wednesday night, he said Pakistani authorities effectively prevented thousands of doses of drugs from reaching to the international community.

Cesar Guedes said Pakistan's law enforcement agencies are doing well in detecting and seizing drugs' transaction. He said Pakistan is seizing the largest amount of heroine and this number is increasing in the last four years, which shows its commitment to confront the menace effectively.

Cesar Guedes said use of drugs adversely affect sustainable development of the country. He said we are ready to help Pakistan to overcome the issue of drugs. He said new donors and other agencies are encouraged to support Pakistan in fighting narcotics.
