Guterres calls for business partnerships to curb scourge of climate change, poverty
UN Secretary-General highlights the importance of private sector to discover new markets.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for new business partnerships to limit the impact of climate change and to reduce poverty.
Addressing the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the Secretary-General said he was particularly interested in the "alignment of the core business of the private sector with the strategic goals of the international community."
He said without the private sector we will not have the necessary capacity to discover new markets, new products, new services and to be able to develop new areas in the economy.
Antonio Guterres specially spoke about the Paris Agreement, which the international community signed with the aim of combating climate change by limiting global temperature rise.
