Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan will conduct a market surveillance to check the sale of spurious, fake, counterfeit and substandard drugs in the country.


According to DRAP, the step is being taken for provision of quality assured, safe, effective and affordable medicine to citizens.


The DRAP teams will also provide guidance to industry and pharma trade for improving distribution, sales and dispensing of therapeutic goods.


The campaign will also include drive for improving drug quality through integrated and systematic regulatory compliance for manufacturing facilities.   



The government will provide natural gas to over 137 villages of Sindh and Balochistan under the PM's Global Sustainable Development Goals Programme.   


Official sources told APP, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited is working to lay around 490 kilometers gas pipelines to gasify 119 villages in Sindh and 18 villages in Balochistan by laying 77 kilometer network lines.


The company would spend 1616.243 million rupees in 119 villages of Sindh and 630.043 in eighteen villages of Balochistan.


All these projects are being executed on recommendations of parliamentarians and notables of the areas for provision of gas.                      



The Government has taken a number of steps to enhance the country's exports.   


According to official sources, over six billion rupees have been allocated in the current financial year to facilitate exporters under the Textile Policy 2014-2019.


Efforts are also being undertaken including Free Trade Agreement negotiations with Turkey, Thailand and Iran to get access for Pakistani products in the potential markets.  A joint research study to assess the potential for a preferential arrangement with Korea is also underway.


Various export promotional activities like trade exhibitions are organized by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan to promote exports to new markets.


The sales tax zero-rating regime for five export oriented sectors including   textile, leather, carpets, surgical and sports goods has been introduced.


In order to counter the import surge through unfair trade and strengthen trade defence mechanisms, National Tariff Commission Act has been revamped.



Hajj gift packs were distributed amongst Pakistani pilgrims in Makkah by the ministry of religious affairs as parts of efforts to make their stay in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalfa comfortable for performance of Hajj rituals.  


On behalf of the government, Director General Hajj Sajid Yousfani presented the gifts to the pilgrims.  Each gift pack comprises a prayer mat, Muzdalfa mat, inflatable pillow and a blanket.


Whilst distributing gifts, the director general Hajj also inquired from the Hujjaj about the facilities including those of accommodation, food and transport made available to them.      


The Hujjaj expressed satisfaction on the overall arrangements. They also expressed their happiness over receiving the gift packs.  


Later talking to our correspondent Zahid Hameed, Sajid Yousfani said that these gift packs will remain memorable for the pilgrims.


When asked about the arrangements put in place for Pakistani pilgrims in Mashaer, the Director General Hajj said that this time the pilgrims will be given three time meal.       



Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says the PML-N government is committed for the development of agriculture and prosperity of farmers.  


He sated this during a meeting with a group of elected public representatives in Lahore on Sunday.


He said the grave issues of poverty and unemployment can be controlled by developing the agriculture and livestock sectors.


The chief minister said that several revolutionary measures have been taken for raising the per acre crop production and interest free loan program has also been launched for the small farmers.


He said that first time in country's history, free loans are being provided to the landless farmers, which will make them prosperous.



Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah says that search operation continues to apprehend the criminals and terrorists in Karachi.


He stated this during his visit to various areas of the city on Sunday to review the development work.


He said that recent surge in the criminal activities is an attempt to demoralize the law enforcement agencies but it will be foiled with iron hands. 



The Punjab Government has dispatched two more health units and eight ambulances to Peshawar for treatment of dengue patients.


Talking to newsmen in Peshawar on Sunday, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said that Punjab government is providing every possible assistance to control dengue fever in Peshawar. 


Meanwhile, the Punjab health teams have started checking up patients and confirmed dengue virus in twenty people.                                                                                                               



Three days anti-polio campaign will be started from Monday in four districts of Balochistan.


Provincial Chief Coordinator Emergency Operation Centre, Syed Faisal told our Quetta correspondent that nearly eight hundred thousand children up to five year of age will be administered anti-polio vaccinations in Quetta, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah and Mastung.


Three thousand eight hundred twenty-four teams have been constituted to administer anti-polio vaccinations to the children.                                              


Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been made for security of polio teams.                



Azadi Train has arrived at Bahawalpur railway station in its countrywide journey and welcomed by a large number of people at the station.  


People are showing keen interest in the floats and galleries of the train, decorated with the cultural models and writings by displaying the important events of the country’s history.


The Azadi Train has started it journey from Peshawar is being run in connection with the 70th Independence Day celebrations.


After staying for two hours at Bahawalpur, the Azadi Train will leave for Samma Satta at two pm.                                                                                                                    



Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed for an early and safe recovery of abducted police personnel from the Kaccha area of Rajanpur.


He directed the Inspector General of Punjab Police to utilize all resources for the recovery.



Iran has handed over one hundred nineteen Pakistani immigrants to FIA at Taftan border in Chagai district.


According to official sources the detained were living in Iran without valid traveling documents.

In this connection, Quran Khawani and fateha Khawani was held at his resting place in Karachi while flowers were also laid on his grave to pay tribute to the brave national hero.


He was awarded the military’s highest honour Nishan-e-Haider posthumously for his bravery. He is the youngest recipient of the honour.
