Supreme rejects PTI's plea to disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers case and directs establishment of a Joint Investigation Team to probe the matter
The five member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, announced its reserved judgment in the case in Islamabad. The court ordered constitution of a Joint Investigation Team comprising members from Federal Investigation Agency, National Accountability Bureau, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan, ISI and Military Intelligence. The heads of these departments and institutions would recommend the names of their nominees for the JIT within seven days. The JIT shall investigate the case, collect evidence, if any against respondents. The respondents are required to appear and associate themselves with the JIT as and when required. The JIT may also examine the relevant evidence and material, if any, already available with the FIA and NAB.
