The president, the prime minister, federal ministers and three services chiefs receive the distinguish guest
A red carpet welcome was accorded to Chinese President Xi Jinping when he arrived in Islamabad on a two-day state visit to Pakistan today.
A 21-gun salute was presented to the visiting dignitary as he alighted from the plane.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and three services chiefs received the distinguished guest at the PAF Base Nur Khan in Rawalpindi.
Children attired in traditional clothes presented bouquets to the Chinese President and the First Lady.
A smartly turned out contingent of armed forces presented guard of honor to the Chinese President. On the occasion, anthems of both the countries were played.
Children clad in colourful traditional clothes waived Pakistani and Chinese flags and sang Pakistan-China friendship songs as the Chinese President and the first lady passed by. The Chinese President and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shook hands with the children who also showered rose petals on the visiting guest. Traditional folk dance was also presented on the occasion.
The JF-17 thunder fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force presented a fly-past on the occasion.
Later, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif introduced the cabinet members and other officials to the Chinese president.
The Chinese President introduced his delegation to the President and the Prime Minister.
President Xi Jinping will meet President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif separately.
President Mamnoon Hussain will host a luncheon reception for the dignitary besides holding a meeting.
The Chinese President and the Prime Minister will hold delegation level official talks.
Both the countries would conclude a number of important agreements and memorandums of understandings worth billions of dollars covering key development projects in the infrastructure, energy and communication sectors under the ambit of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The Chinese President will also address a joint sitting of the Parliament tomorrow morning.
