Pakistan, China enjoy deep strategic relationship: Analysts
Pakistan and China have signed fifty-one agreements and MoUs for cooperation in different fields.
Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif witnessed the signing of agreements in Islamabad.
Speaking in Radio Pakistan’s special program, President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Vohra said: “Today is a historic day and it is an important milestone in the history of Pakistan. Pakistani traders’ community warmly welcomes the Chinese president and we are hopeful that this visit will augur well for Pakistani economy. The completion of Pak-China Economic Corridor will create new opportunities of employment. Chinese President has signed several agreements to overcome energy crisis. The production of energy is quite significant for the development of industrial sector of the country. The traders of the country are very happy on visit of Chinese president.”
Former DG, ISPR Major General (Retd.) Athar Abbas said: “China is our reliable and sincere friend and this visit is quite significant for Pakistan. Pakistan China Economic Corridor is very important for the future prosperity of the region. This project will create a lot of job opportunities. It will also help access Pakistan to Central Asian states and Europe. We need more access to foreign markets to increase our exports. It is quite necessary for the development of the country that we should have good relations with our neighbors. Good relations with neighbors will create peace in the region.”
Defense analyst Air Marshal (R) Shahid Latif said: “Pakistan and China enjoy a deep strategic relationship. Chinese president will sign several agreements which will bring economic revolution in the country. By signing these agreements, China has expressed its confidence on Pakistan. Now, it is the duty of our government to maintain peace and improve law and order situation to facilitate these projects. Pakistan and China also actively collaborate in defense sector as well. China has indicated to increase cooperation with Pakistan in civil nuclear energy. China has already set up Chashma nuclear power plant and it will further help in setting up of more nuclear plants for energy production.”
Economist Dr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui said: “China is investing 46 billion dollars in Pakistan including 35 billion dollars on energy projects. Present government is committed to overcome the energy crisis in the country. These new projects will help to transform the vision of the government. The projects will create economic activities in the country. China is an emerging economy of the world. China is the second largest economy of the world. This is the first time in the history that China is investing such a huge investment in Pakistan. The Pakistan China Economic Corridor is in favor of China too because due to this route China is able to access Europe. The heads of private companies of China are also visiting Pakistan along with Chinese president which will increase trade between Pakistan and China.”
Senior analyst Dr. Gulfaraz Ahmad said: “China has become a major economy of the world and it would become the number one economic power of the world in next ten years. China has signed several agreements with Pakistan to enhance its economy. It is the duty of our government to use its all out efforts to complete these projects. China always supported Pakistan and both countries have good relations. China is working for the development of Pakistan and Afghanistan. China is willing to curb terrorism from Afghanistan with the help of Pakistan. Pakistan China Economic Corridor will link up Pakistan and China with the states of Central Asia.”
Former Foreign Secretary Akram Zaki said: “It is unfortunate that this visit has delayed by nine months due to immature politics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. This visit was canceled due to the internal and external conspiracies. This visit of Chinese President disappointed the enemies of the development of Pakistan. This visit will overcome the energy crisis because Chinese president signed energy projects worth 36 billion dollars. Pak-China Economic Corridor will help overcome the unemployment and poverty from our country.”
Senior analyst Dr. Murtaza Mughal said: “Chinese President is on a two day visit of Pakistan. He met with Prime Minister and President in Islamabad. Prime Minister and President along with federal cabinet and services chiefs received distinguished guest at Noor Khan Airbase. Chinese President signed several projects worth 46 billion dollars. He also met with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and discussed issues of bilateral relations. The visit of Chinese President is quite significant for the development of Pakistan. Pakistan will gain confidence of international investors after the huge investment of China in Pakistan. Pakistan China Economic Corridor is beneficial for both countries.”
