Special Representative to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has urged ulema to come forward for promoting unity and harmony in society.

Addressing the ‘Istehkam-e-Pakistan Ulema and Mashaikh Conference’ at Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust in Lahore, he said religious scholars have a great responsibility in maintaining ideal atmosphere of interfaith harmony.

Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said Pakistan could face numerous challenges due to recent change in the regional situation as the enemies are trying to harm the Muslim Ummah particularly Pakistan through fanning sectarianism.

He said ulema, scholars and all segments of society have to play a proactive role in forging unity in the Muslim Ummah.

Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said India had been conspiring against Pakistan from inside Afghanistan, but failed in its reprehensible plans and now it is attempting to ignite sectarian violence to create chaos and anarchy in Pakistan.

He welcomed Taliban Authorities' stance of not allowing Afghan soil to be used against Pakistan or any other country.
