In Afghanistan, twenty-four Taliban militants have been killed and seventeen others injured in guided missile strikes in Uruzgan province.
In a statement, Afghan military said strikes also destroyed a number of weapons, ammunition and explosive materials, the statement added.
The statement did not say whether the strike was launched by NATO-led coalition forces or the Afghan army.
Meanwhile, two police officers were killed after gunmen in a car opened fire at a security checkpoint in Khost province today. A provincial security source said incident occurred in Gulzar Aka locality of provincial capital Khost city at midday.
Deceased officers were inspecting commuters' vehicles at the post before the shooting.
