Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) president Khawaja Hassan Wadood has said that there is plentiful of talent in the country but there is a need to give them more and more international exposure in order to groom the players.

Talking to APP, he said table tennis is regularly played in schools, colleges and universities.

“Educational institutions also conduct annual table tennis tournaments in which many students participate,” he said.

Khawaja Hassan said after conducting the successful National Junior Table Tennis Championship and Table Tennis Super League, PTTF is now planning to hold Master Table Tennis Tournament after Eid in which 32 male and 16 female players from 10 teams will be participating.

“The participating teams include Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Wapda, Islamabad, Pakistan Army, Higher Education Commission, National Highways and Pakistan Railways,” he said.

Responding to a question, he said the annual grant of the Federation is very low due to which holding tournaments is not that easy.

“The government should pay attention to the game of table tennis like other sports and also increase its annual grant so that players can be sent regularly in international competitions,” he said.
