CPEC attracting investors from across world: Planning Minister

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project is attracting investors from across the world.        

Addressing the launching ceremony of Productivity, Quality and Innovation initiative in Islamabad today, he said with improvement in security situation, the country is now considered a safe haven for investment.    

Ahsan Iqbal said the energy and infrastructure projects under the CPEC have been completed while the next phase of the project will help develop the country's industrial sector on modern lines.

He said the early harvest projects have helped build modern infrastructure and overcome power shortages in the country which will help put the country on sustainable development.  

The Planning Minister said the CPEC related projects are also helping in the training and capacity building of the workers.

Later,  Speaking at the first ever Women Police Darbar in Islamabad on Friday afternoon,Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said performance of women police personnel in Counter Terrorism Force is no less than their male colleagues.

He said it is encouraging that women in large number are not only joining the police but also Counter Terrorism Force.

Ahsan Iqbal said the security paradigm has changed from physical characteristics to mental intelligence of police personnel.

The Minister said the number of women in police force should be increased from the existing two point five percent.

He said women are more persuasive in communication and can prove effective in community policing.
