Next budget to aim at maximizing economic growth: Miftah

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Miftah Ismail says government is all set to achieve six percent GDP growth rate, the highest during the last decade.

Addressing a function of World Islamic Finance Forum in Karachi, he said the next budget would aim at maximizing the economic growth instead of maximizing revenue.

He said we have removed basic bottlenecks in getting higher economic growth, creating more job opportunities in the country.

The Adviser said government is moving forward to further simplify procedure of doing business and reducing the number of taxes. He said an amnesty scheme is also being announced during the current month that would incentivise people to bring their money from abroad and invest in the country.

The Adviser said the government would also launch 100 million rupees Sukuk bonds for Islamic banking industry to strengthen its liquidity position.
