Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has stressed the need to make disabled persons useful citizens of the country. She was addressing a ceremony in Islamabad to distribute Khadija tul Kubra Awards among the women with disabilities.
The Minister of State said instead of establishing special schools for disabled person we must create a harmonious society which is not indifferent to the rights of disabled persons.
The Minister of State said that it is also responsibility of the society to accept people with disabilities.
She urged the media to play its due role in creating awareness among masses regarding their responsibilities towards disabled people.
Earlier, the secretary Women Parliamentary Caucus Shaista Parvez Malik said Khadija tul Kubra Awards for disabled women is aimed at acknowledging contribution of disabled women in development of the country.
On the occasion, Marriyum Aurangzeb distributed awards among twenty women with disabilities from across the country.
