President Dr Arif Alvi has said that no country could achieve the goal of sustainable development without empowering the women.

He said this while speaking at the Lux Hum Women Leaders Award 2020 in Karachi.

The President said the women in Pakistan are being empowered through Ehsaas Programme by the incumbent government. 

He stressed that it is a collective responsibility including the media persons to actively contribute towards achieving the goal.

Dr Arif Alvi said drama is an excellent medium to educate people about the problems being faced by the society.

The drama writers should particularly penned the stories of polio or hepatitis patients so as to create awareness about the deadly diseases.

The President appreciated the organizers of the Lux Hum Women Leaders Award 2020 for recognizing the achievements of women.

Later, prominent women include Maleeha Lodhi, Bushra Ansari, Shamshad Akhtar, Samina Baig, Narges Abyar, Jallila Hiader and Seemin Jamali were awarded for their out-standing contributions in respective fields.
