Addressing the National Economic Council meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says Pakistan’s economic indicators have significantly improved and this is acknowledged by international financial rating institutions. National Economic Council approves Annual Development Plan for next financial year. The approval was given in a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad. PM says the GDP growth rate of 5.28% for the current financial year is commendable. The Prime Minister informed the participants of the meeting that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects are being completed on fast track basis.

Seven Economic Zones to Be Established Under CPEC

A delegation of Chinese experts will visit Pakistan next month to review suitability of Special Economic Zones in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Spokesman Board of Investment Shah Jhan Shah said a total of seven zones have been approved for facilitating the investors through one window operation.  He said three zones each will be established in Punjab and Sindh while one in KPK. Responding to a question, he said nine more industrial zones have been approved for high tech industry to enhance the exports and provide employment opportunities in the country.  

ECP Introduces Electoral Rolls' Computerized System

Election Commission of Pakistan has introduced electoral rolls' computerized system in Punjab and Balochistan. ECP Director Electoral Rolls Wing Babar Malik said that after introduction of this system, the training process of district election commissioners, election officers and other concerned staff had been started. He said after training the staff and implementation of this system in the whole country, people would have latest facility of their vote registration. Babar Malik said all concerned machinery and computers would be installed in ECP offices in all districts of the country.

PEMRA to Monitor Ramadan Transmission of TV Channels

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has issued a reminder to all satellite TV channels and FM radio stations to strictly follow the Ramadan guidelines. PEMRA will be constantly monitoring the Ramadan transmissions of all the satellite TV channels and FM radio stations. Strict action will be taken against those violating the Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015.

Concrete Steps Taken To Create Enabling Environment For E-Commerce: Anusha

The Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rahman says Pakistan has taken many concrete steps to create an enabling environment for E-commerce online businesses.
This she stated during meeting with Senior Advisor of the International Trade Center James Howe Leslie in Islamabad today. They also discussed matters pertaining to E-commerce platforms and other value chain component as well as E-Solutions. James Howe Leslie appreciated the developments in E-commerce arena in Pakistan.

Pakistan Seeks France’s Cooperation in Peaceful Use of Nuclear Technology

Pakistan conveyed its desire to France during a meeting in Islamabad. Pakistan has sought France’s cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear technology and support for its membership of Nuclear Suppliers Group. Pakistan conveyed its desire to France during a meeting in Islamabad today to discuss issues related to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
The French delegation was headed by Assistant Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Nicolas Roche, while Ambassador Tasnim Aslam represented Pakistani side. The two sides had a detailed, constructive and candid exchange of views on a wide range of issues, including emerging threats to strategic stability at the global level as well as in their respective regions

Balochistan Govt Upgrading 100 Basic Health Units

Balochistan government is spending huge amounts to provide basic health facilities to the poor masses in remote areas of the province. An official of Provincial Health Department told our correspondent in Quetta today, that a project of up gradation of 100 Basic Health Units to the level of BHU Plus and thirty Rural Health Centres to the level of RHCs Plus is being executed at a cost of one billion rupees. He said work on a hospital project in Zehri in Khuzdar district is also in progress at a cost of more than forty-nine million rupees.
