STRATEGY:

The Government is planning to establish Science and Technology Institutes in different disciplines for rapid socio economic development in the country.

 

For this purpose, Ministry of Science and Technology has devised a National Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy.

 

A summary for approval of the Strategy document has been sent to the Prime Minister.

 

After approval of the strategy document, different Science and Technology Institutes would be established across the country including backward areas within ten years.

 

Ministry of Science and Technology is also considering to establish Precision Systems Training Centre at Gwadar at a cost of over 777 million rupees.  Upgradation of fruit processing and analytical laboratories and establishment of gemstone cutting and polishing centre at Skardu are also under consideration.

             

DAM:

Work on the construction of Dasu Dam in district Kohistan will be started in next two months.  

 

Official sources told Radio Pakistan Peshawar correspondent that the contract has been awarded to a Chinese firm.

 

World Bank is agreed to finance the project.

 

The project will be completed at a cost of more than four billion dollars by the end of 2021.

 

On completion it will generate two thousand one hundred and sixty megawatt electricity.

          

REHEARSAL:

The full dress rehearsal of Pakistan Day parade is underway at Shakarparian Parade Ground in Islamabad. 

     

Foot columns of Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Frontier Corps, Northern Light Infantry, Mujahid Force and other services are participating in the rehearsal.

     

Scores of fighter aircraft of PAF, Pakistan Navy and helicopters of Army Aviation is rehearsing flypast for the final day.

    

Strict security measures are in place in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to avoid any untoward incident.

    

Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police has chalked our a special traffic plan for Pakistan Day.

    

The traffic will remain close from Expressway Khanna pull, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point and Murree Road Rawal dam to Faizabad on Sunday. However people with security passes are being allowed to enter the venue.

    

According to the plan, the heavy traffic entry will not be allowed on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

   

Traffic coming from Airport will use Khanna Pull to Tramari Chowk for entering Murree road. Similarly, Kashmir Highway would remain open for the traffic going to Aabpara, Bara Kahoo and Murree.

 

Mobile phone service has also been suspended in different parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

      

TATARSTAN:

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has commended development vision of  Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and appreciated steps taken for fast-track development in the  province.

 

He stated this wile departing from Lahore to Tatarstan at Lahore airport on Sunday. 

 

Shahbaz Sharif said that the visit of the President of Tatarstan to Lahore is a great honor for Pakistan.

 

He said that the visit of the honorable guest will promote economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Republic of Tatarstan.

 

Tatarstan President was on two days official visit to Pakistan.

            

ARREST:

Law enforcement agencies have arrested seventy suspects during search operations in different areas of Bannu district.

   

The arrests also include fifteen proclaimed offenders.

 

Arms and ammunition were recovered from them.               

 

CHAGAI:

Iranian authorities have handed over sixty-one Pakistani immigrants to FIA at Taftan border in Chagai district.

 

According to official sources the detained Pakistani immigrants were living in Iran without legal documents.

   

ACCIDENT:

One person has died and seven other injured in a collision between two vehicles in Ghazi Kot area of district Mansehra on Sunday.

 

The injured have been shifted to district headquarter hospital Mansehra.

 

IHK:

In Occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Editors’ Guild has staged a protest demonstration along with other media journalists in Srinagar against the assault on photojournalists by Indian army and police in Hyderpora.

 

The assault on journalists has triggered outrage and condemnation from civil and political groups. 

 

The media persons were carrying placards inscribed with slogans in favor of freedom of media and have asked the forces and police to apologize for the barbaric act.

     

NORTH KOREA

North Korea has conducted a ground test of a new type of high-thrust rocket engine.

 

The country leader Kim Jong Un has termed it a revolutionary breakthrough for the country's space program.

 

According to reports of Korean Central News Agency, Kim attended the test at the Sohae launch site.

 

He said the whole world will witness what eventful significance and the great victory we have achieved now.
