China has offered to bring Diamir-Bhasha Dam project under the umbrella of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
This was informed at a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reforms in Islamabad today.
Chairman WAPDA, Muzammil Hussain told the committee that the project has been pending since long, as Asian Development Bank has declined to fund it, raising objection on its location.
Chairman WAPDA said other hydro-power projects including Neelum Jehlum and Tarbela extension would be completed by May next year which would provide additional 2500 MW electricity.
He said work on Dasu project would be started next month, and completed by 2022.
National Assembly's Standing Committee on Communications was informed today that "Western Route" of China Pakistan Economic Corridor will be completed by June next year.
The committee, which met in Islamabad today with Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi in the chair, was informed that Western Route has been divided into five zones and work is in progress on all these zones.
The meeting directed that Motorway Police be equipped to meet the needs of CPEC.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says Haveli Bahadur Shah Gas power plant will generate one thousand two hundred thirty megawatt electricity by next year.
He was speaking during a surprise visit to Haveli Bahadur Shah in Jhang district today where he reviewed the construction process of the project.
Shahbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the team and said that the power plant will start trial production from tonight.
He said seven hundred sixty megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid from the plant next month.
The construction plan for the "Main Line-I" of Pakistan Railways, from Karachi to Peshawar, has been presented to Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in Lahore.
Speaking on the occasion, he said Pakistan Railways is entering a new era of rehabilitation with the upgradation of Main Line One.
He said that after completion of this upgradation project, the train speed on the main line will touch one hundred sixty km per hour.
