Balochistan budget for the new fiscal year with a total outlay of over Rs 215 billion was announced in Quetta on Thursday.

Presenting the budget, Advisor to Chief Minister Mir Khalid Langove said 50.742 billion rupees of funds have been earmarked for public sector development programme while over 164 billion rupees have been earmarked for non-development expenditures.

Total income during the fiscal year have been estimated over 200 billion rupees which will be accommodated from devisable pool.

Over 8 billion rupees will be met from provincial income resources while 15.662 billion rupees deficit has been shown in the budget.

He said special priority has been given to education, health, communication, energy, improving law and order and provision of drinking water to the people.

The Advisor announced 10 per cent increase in salaries of government employees and pensioners. He said 17.251 million rupees have been allocated for maintenance of law and order in the province.

The Advisor said 324 million rupees have been earmarked for school education while 500 million rupees have been set aside to provide infrastructure and basic amenities to all the girls and boys colleges in the province.

14 billion rupees have been allocated for health sector, 6.351 million rupees for agriculture, 1850 million rupees for beautification and construction of Quetta city, 2.569 billion rupees for livestock, while 549 million rupees for development of fisheries sector.

The Chief Minister Advisor said 152 new and 239 ongoing schemes will be undertaken at a cost of 9 billion rupees. He said one billion rupees have been earmarked for mines and mineral and over 3,402 million rupees for irrigation sector.
