PM, JUI-F Chief disuss MQM resignations issue
Prime Minister lauds role of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman with regard to political harmony and reconciliation.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Matters relating to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) resignations were discussed.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman with regard to political harmony, stability and reconciliation.
Later talking to newsmen in Islamabad, the JUI-F Chief said he apprised the Prime Minister about his meeting with the MQM leadership in Karachi on Tuesday (18 August).
Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman said he briefed to the Prime Minister 19-point demands of the MQM.
He said the next round of talks with MQM leaders regarding their resignations will be held in Islamabad in a few days.
To a question, the JUI-F Chief said delay in talks occurred due to attack on MQM MNA Rashid Godil.
He said both the government and MQM have positive approach to resolve the issue.
He said targeted operation in Karachi is not directed against MQM.
