Govt pursuing policy of reconciliation: Analysts
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Speaking in Radio Pakistan’s program Nuqta-e Nazar, Senator Lt Gen. (Retd) Abdul Qayyum Khan said: “Government has been working on agenda to make decision through consensus of all political parties. Prime Minister always asked PTI to resolve issue through dialogue but PTI preferred the politics of sit-in for their demands. Similarly, MQM Chief used abusive language for security institutions even then PM has requested MQM to present their reservations in parliament. Karachi operation was initiated with the mutual consensus of all political parties including MQM. Present government does not believe in minus-one formula for any political party. Altaf Hussain is leader of a big party so he should be careful in his statements and speeches.”
Senator Saleem Zia said: “Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman is the central person between MQM and government and he is the facilitator to resolve MQM resignation issue. After successful operation Zarb-e-Azb held by Pak Army in NWA, various terrorists settled in Karachi and operation was launched against them. Many foreigners have been arrested in Sohrab Goth. MQM should support the government and Pak Army to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country and making Pakistan a terror-free and peaceful country.”
PML-N leader Maiza Hameed said: “Prime Minister wants a strong democratic system in Pakistan. Government has been making decision with the mutual consensus of all political parties. Karachi operation will continue till its logical end and there will be no compromise on it. PM Nawaz Sharif believes in supremacy of the parliament. PTI has tried to adopt short-cut to come into power. Government and other political parties are on same page regarding peace in the country. Media should play an unbiased and prominent role. Resignations are not the solution of any problem. MQM should use the parliament as platform for suggestions. We strongly condemn suicide attack on Col Shuja Khanzada who was a brave politician.”
PML-N leader Dr. Asma Mamdot : “Prime Minister has set an example of reconciliation. He wants the representation of MQM’s members in the National Assembly again. MQM should come in parliament to express their reservations in the house. MQM is the fourth big party in National Assembly. MQM should support the government’s efforts to make Pakistan a prosperous and peaceful country.”
JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah said: “Parliament has given the task to Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman to bring back MQM in the parliament. Maulana Fazal-u-Rehman apprised the Prime Minister of the progress on his talks with MQM. PM has appreciated the role of Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding political harmony and reconciliation. MQM has five major reservations including ongoing Karachi operation. MQM has demanded to constitute a monitoring committee to monitor the Karachi operation. We are hopeful that issue between MQM and government will be resolved soon.”
