The United Nations said today that 16 of its staff members taken hostage by South Sudanese refugees at a U.N. camp in eastern Congo have been released.

The U.N. peacekeeping department said in New York that the camp is now under full control of  the peacekeepers.

Earlier, the U.N. Mission in Congo said that the South Sudanese refugees had taken the staff members hostage to press for their demands.
