Government of Pakistan is aware of all challenges and their implications on development of the nation
Dr. Abdul Baseer Khan Achakzai, Director/National Program Manager, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination and Alba Cecilia Grazon, Head of Nutrition, United Nations World Food Programme, Islamabad, Pakistan participated in the Radio Pakistan’s program “ UN Perspective”.
In interview they said that Pakistan Vision 2025, the sustainable development goals, Scaling up Nutrition Movement and zero hunger challenge, National Fortification Strategy are examples of government’s commitment to improve the situation. The Provincial governments have taken positive steps by allocating funds under PC1 and initiating nutrition programmes in all four provinces in the food insecure and vulnerable districts. The good news is that government of Pakistan is aware of all challenges and their implications on development of the nation.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says completion of Bhikki power project in record period of eighteen months is beginning of new era in national history.He was addressing the LNG-fueled Bhikki Power Plant with a total power generation capacity of 1180-MW at Sheikhupura on Wednesday.He said Balloki Power Project will be completed at a total cost of eighty-four billion rupees with saving of fifty-two billion rupees.He said Haveli Bahadur Shah project will be completed at a cost of ninety billion rupees with a saving of forty-nine billion rupees.Prime Minister said due to PML-N government speedy completion of power projects, a total of 8,946 megawatt of electricity will be added to the national grid by June next year.He said new power projects being inaugurated every month or so, will ease power crisis in the country. He said Sahiwal Coal Power Project of 660 MW will start power generation in June this year. Similarly, Port Qasim Power project of 660-MW will start generation by the end of this year. Nawaz Sharif said 1410-MW power project of Tarbela-IV will be added to the national grid in February next year while Bhasha Dam and Dasu Power projects will be completed after 2018.
