In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad town and adjoining areas today ( Wednesday) to commemorate the 25th martyrdom anniversary of noted Islamic scholar, Qazi Nisar Ahmed, and against the recent spate of killings by Indian troops in the district.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Jammu and Kashmir Ummat-e-Islami.

All shops, business establishments and educational institutions are closed while traffic is off the road in Islamabad town.

Paying rich tributes to the founder of Ummat-e-Islami, Qazi Nisar Ahmed, the party spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said, the best tribute to the martyrs is to work for fulfillment of their mission.

Qazi Nisar was killed by unknown gunmen on this day in 1994 in Bun Dialgan area of Islamabad district.

Meanwhile, a team of Ummat-e-Islami leaders addressing a press briefing condemned the brutal crackdown on the resistance leadership and the tactics being used by the Indian authorities to malign the pro-freedom leadership.
