A Chinese laboratory is developing a drug it believes has the power to bring the coronavirus pandemic to halt.

Researchers say the drug being tested by scientists at Peking University could not only shorten the recovery time for the infected persons, but even offer short-term immunity from the virus.

Director of the university's Advanced Innovation Center for Genomics said the drug has been successful at animal testing stage.
