A seven-day “IDPs Relief Mela (festival)” is continuing at National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa in Islamabad.

It is aimed to provide relief to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.

The festival includes Artisans-at-Work Exhibition, Folkloric Song and Dance Ensembles, Performances by Rural Musicians, Traditional Cuisine, Display by Public Sector Organizations and NGOs, Craft Bazaar and other attractions.

The event is an opportunity for craftsmen to display their workmanship at the federal capital and to sell their products to the visitors. The folk artists and musicians also perform in the ‘mela’ to help generate funds for their brothers and sisters in need.

The proceeds of the ‘mela’ will be presented to the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage for onward transmission to IDPs through relevant governmental channel.

The ‘mela’ will conclude on 23rd of this month.
