Pakistan urges Afghan govt to ensure early recovery of missing officials

Pakistan has urged the Afghan government to ensure early recovery of the officials of its Jalalabad Consulate General who went missing while coming to their country on Friday. In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said today that Islamabad is in constant touch with Afghan authorities for safe recovery of two officials.

Federal Govt to provide 65% amount for construction of CRBC in D.I.Khan

Work on construction of Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) in Dera Ismail Khan will be started this year. Official sources told Radio Pakistan Peshawar correspondent, that the project will be completed at a cost of one hundred and twenty billion rupees. Sixty five percent of this amount will be provided by the federal government.

Women get 50% share in PM's Youth Loan Schemes

The government has ensured fifty percent participation of women in Prime Minister's Youth Loan Schemes for the empowerment of women. According to official sources, the government is committed to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, Gender Equality by ending all forms of discrimination against women in the country. According to Economic Survey 2016-17, Punjab government has lifted ban on recruitment and 25,000 posts for women have been created at different tiers. Seventy percent jobs in primary education have been earmarked for women.   

UN announces to initiate fresh peace talks among Syrian factions early next month

The United Nations has announced to initiate fresh peace talks among Syrian factions early next month. In a statement, the UN Special Envoy for Syria said the talks would focus on various issues, including constitution, governance, elections, and fight against terrorism. He said the United Nations intends to convene further rounds of talks in August and in September this year. Meanwhile, the United States has welcomed the Syrian Army's decision to halt combat operations in the southern city of Daraa. In a statement, US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert urged the Syrian opposition groups to halt attacks to allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need.The search at sea has been called off, he told a news conference at Yokosuka naval base.

Taliban attack kills 5 policemen in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, five policemen have been killed and eight injured in Taliban attack with two suicide car bombs on Police Headquarters in Paktia province. According to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman, three attackers were also killed in retaliation by security forces. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement sent to media.
