Ali Muhammad Khan (Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs): Pakistan has been effectively highlighting Kashmir issue at all available international forums. The narrative of Pakistan after the Indian illegal move in IIOJ&K has been acknowledged by the world. Prime Minister Imran Khan has apprised the world that Hindutva ideology of India is like Nazism that endangers the world peace. The international media has also started criticizing Indian human rights violations and discriminatory attitude towards the minorities. Some big countries for the sake of their economic interests are silent over what India is doing. India is a heavily populated country and Indian nationals are working in different countries and have strong influence there. On the other hand, it is unfortunate that Muslim Ummah is not united to counter anti-Islam conspiracies. It is also regrettable that some elements in our country have been promoting the narrative of India by speaking against the state institutions. We should get united for the sake of our national interest irrespective of our political differences. Our armed forces have played a vital role in eradicating terrorism out of the country and our soldiers are rendering sacrifices every day to protect the motherland. The statements against our armed forces cannot be tolerated.
Dr. Huma Baqai (IR Expert): Pakistan has been consistent in advocating Kashmir issue and is also exercising strategic restraint despite continuous Indian aggression. Different capitals of western countries have convergence of interests with India that makes them hesitant to criticize New Delhi over its policies in the region and in IIOJ&K as well. However, many international human rights organizations across the world are holding India responsible of deteriorating situation in the Occupied valley. Pakistan has become vocal and managed to influence the narrative of the civilized world. In fact, a major paradigm shift is taking place and narrative of Pakistan is being acknowledged in the world. Pakistan has also conditioned talks with India till the unilateral decision taken by Indian government on 5th of August last year is reversed. National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Yusuf has rightly stated that India is in a very difficult situation right now as it is facing regional isolation. It has conflicts with all of its neighboring countries including China, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Conflict with China has exposed Indian military position at Laddakh region where the Indian forces faced humiliation.
Hammad Naqi Khan (DG, WWF): Pakistan is among the most vulnerable countries as far as climate change is concerned. There is need to address the challenges in this regard. The loss of biodiversity is one of the key challenges and factors like deforestation, overgrazing, soil erosion, salinity and water logging are posing major threats to the remaining biodiversity of the country. Nature has endowed Pakistan with diverse ecosystems embracing rich biodiversity. But diminishing natural habitats and fresh water resources are depriving us from the ecological blessings, of which these species are a significant part. The present government is taking good initiatives including Billion Tree project and Clean & Green Pakistan. We do have comprehensive policies and frameworks but need of the hour is to ensure the implementations of these policies.
Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed Khan (IR Expert): Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan and is known by its Russian name, mountainous Karabakh but to Armenians and the Armenian-majority population of the region, it is known as the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. When the Soviet Union dissolved, tensions between newly independent Armenia and Azerbaijan reignited. Pakistan stands with Azerbaijan in its quest to resolve Nagorno-Karabakh issue as per United Nations Security Council resolutions. The resolution reaffirmed continued respect and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders, and demanded the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of all Armenian forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
