US, Turkey, AI condemn Morsi's death sentence
Turkish President says death sentence for ousted Egyptian President means Egypt is turning back into ancient Egypt.
The United States, Turkey and Amnesty International condemned the death sentence handed out by an Egyptian court to former president Mohamed Morsi.
A State Department official said on Sunday, the US consistently spoken out against the practice of mass trials and sentences, which are inconsistent with Egypt's international obligations and the rule of law.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemning the ruling said in Istanbul that death sentence for ousted Egyptian president means Egypt is turning back into ancient Egypt.
Earlier, an Egyptian court sentenced Morsi to death for his alleged role in a mass jailbreak case during the 2011 uprising.
