Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has decided to extend the export period of wheat and wheat products till 31st August this year.

The committee made the decision at its  meeting in Islamabad today with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair.

Only those wheat exporters, who have already shifted wheat from go-downs of food departments prior to 15th March this year will be allowed to benefit from this extension.

The ECC also accorded approval to another proposal of Ministry of National Food Security and Research regarding outstanding claims of PASSCO on account of wheat supplied to Afghanistan.

The ECC considered a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Commerce regarding the Prime Minister's Package of Incentives for Exporters and extended the date of submission of claims till 30th September this year for shipments and exports made up to 30th of this month.



Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has invited Saudi investors to take advantage of opportunities and incentives being provided by Pakistan to foreign investors.

He was talking to Saudi Ambassador-designate to Pakistan, Commodore Nawaf Saeed Ahmed Al-Malkiy, who called on him in Islamabad today.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to bilateral relations and cooperation in different fields came under discussion.

The Finance Minister appreciated the continued support of the Saudi Government for projects aimed at economic development in Pakistan.

He urged Saudi investors to avail the investment opportunities particularly in the petrochemical industry, offered under the liberal investment regime of the present government.  


Saudi Ambassador designate said he would be keen on promoting greater presence of Saudi investors and companies in Pakistan with a view to further bolster the current level of bilateral economic cooperation.



Pakistan opened Kharlachi Crossing with Afghanistan in Kurram Agency today.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, the decision reflects Pakistan's continued efforts to facilitate Afghan transit and trade through Pakistan.

He said that this is not a pedestrians crossing, but is meant for facilitation of trade and transit vehicles.



Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif today recorded his statement, before the JIT, probing Panama papers' case in Islamabad.

Later talking to newsmen, Shahbaz Sharif said his family has served the purpose of rule of law in the country by appearing before the JIT.

He said unlike the military dictators, we, the elected representatives respect the law and the constitution.

He said that he has recorded his statement before the JIT with utmost respect. He said elected prime minister wrote a new chapter the other day in the country's history by appearing before the JIT.

The Punjab Chief Minister said there are no corruption cases against his family and the case before the JIT belongs to their personal business.  

He said Sharif family greatly adores this motherland and they have not plundered any money. He said we have returned all the loans of Ittefaq Foundries.


Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has presented himself and the entire family for accountability.

Talking to media persons in Islamabad today, she said the accountability process against Nawaz Sharif was started in Musharraf and PPP regimes but nothing could be proved against him.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the way the Prime Minister presented himself before law and constitution, the PTI chairman should also appear before the court the same way.

In a statement, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that  PTI's Chief Imran Khan is misleading the nation about Panama Papers Case and leveling unfound and baseless allegation on Prime Minister.

The Minister of State that PTI's  Chief should appear before court of law and defend allegations against him regarding party foreign funding.



Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif has said the people would again bring PML-N to power by giving it heavy mandate in the 2018 general elections.

Addressing party workers in Sialkot, he said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would succeed in the court of the people in 2018 elections. The people will reject negative politics as well.

He said the government is fulfilling all promises made by the PML-N during the last elections in 2013. He said the country is now moving forward on the path of progress and prosperity.



Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman has said that a high level of cooperation and synergy exists among armed forces and through our synergistic efforts we achieved remarkable success in war against terrorism.  

This he said while addressing the convocation ceremony of 30th Air War Course held at PAF Air War College, Karachi.

He said that Pakistan Air Force has accepted every challenge and demonstrated remarkable heights of professional excellence.

Beside officers from Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy, the graduates included officers from twelve friendly countries Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.

The ceremony was attended by various high ranking civil and military officers and diplomats from different countries.



Higher Education Commission has launched a new portal for online registration and creation of account for attestation of degrees while sitting at home.     

According to official sources, the system has been evolved to facilitate degree holders with a hassle-free mechanism where the applicant will no longer have to stand in queues for attestation of their documents.

The applicant may now fill an online application form and upload his or her scanned documents.

After submission, the application will initially be scrutinized online by HEC. The applicant will then receive an email or SMS to schedule his visit at one of HEC offices in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar or Quetta.



Martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) is being observed with due solemnity  today.   

Various programmes have been chalked out in connection with the day where Ulema and scholars will shed light on the life and services of Hazrat Ali (RA) for Islam.

In Lahore, Karachi, Quetta , Gilgat and other cities mouring  processions were taken out in connection with  the martyrdom  day of Hazrat Ali (R.A.).

Special arrangements have been made to provide security to the mourners attending majalis and processions.



In Occupied Kashmir, tens of thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of martyred youth, Junaid Mattoo, Nasir Wani and Aadil Mushtaq in different areas today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the funeral prayers of the martyred youth were held in Islamabad, Shopian and Pampore areas. The mourners raised high-pitched pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. The martyred youth were laid to rest after being shrouded in Pakistani flag.

The authorities made heavy deployment of Indian police and troops in all major towns to prevent the protests.

Complete shutdown was observed in the Occupied territory against the killings to register protest on the call of the joint resistance leadership.

Meanwhile, six Indian policemen, including a station house officer, have been killed in an attack in Islamabad District.

The killing occurred when some unknown attackers opened fire on a police party travelling in a vehicle in Achabal area of the district.



The final of the ICC Champions Trophy will be played between Pakistan and arch-rival India at the Oval tomorrow.

Pakistan has qualified first time for the final of the tournament, while India has won two titles of the Champions Trophy.

The match will start at 1430 hours Pakistan Standard Time.



In the Hockey World League semi-finals in London, Pakistan will play against India tomorrow.



Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next twenty-four hours.

However, rain and dust-thunderstorm with gusty winds is likely at a few places in  Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, D.G. Khan, D.I.Khan divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, thunderstorm, light rain and drizzle are expected at a few places along Sindh and Makran coast.
