PIPELINE

Government has allocated twenty five billion rupees in the new fiscal year for development of gas infrastructure across the country, including Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.

 

This was stated by official sources in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources while talking to APP.

 

The sources say practical work on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project will be started as soon as all international sanctions on Iran are completely lifted.

 

They said a few international sanctions on Iran including ‘dollar transaction’ are causing delay in execution of the much awaited project.

 

The officials said Pakistan is ready to complete its part of the gas pipeline within thirty months, once the sanctions on Iran are lifted.

 

ZONES

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, work on construction of seventeen Industrial Economic Zones is in progress, under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

 

Official sources told Radio Pakistan's Peshawar correspondent that these zones are being constructed in Hattar, Rashakai, Ghazi, Jalozai, Chitral, Bannu, Karak, D.I.Khan, Nowshera, Buner, Swat, Gadoon, Jehangira, Mansehra, Kohat, Battagram and Risalpur.

 

The project will be completed at a cost of about thirty-three billion rupees by 2025.

 

SHAHBAZ-ACADEMY

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is in the Federal Judicial Academy Islamabad, to record his statement before Joint Investigation Team, probing the Panama papers' case.

 

He will also answer to queries of the investigation team.

   

Strict security arrangements have been put in place around the judicial academy.   

 

    

YOUM-I-ALI

Martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) is being observed with due solemnity  today.

  

Various programmes have been chalked out in connection with the day where Ulema and scholars will shed light on the life and services of Hazrat Ali (RA) for Islam.

 

In Lahore, a procession in connection with Youm-i-Ali (R.A.) has been taken out from Mubarak Haveli inside Bhati Gate that will culminate at Karbala Gamay Shah.

 

 

RADIO

Radio Pakistan is broadcasting three day special programs to mark the martyrdom anniversary of the fourth Caliph of Islam.

 

In this connection, a program titled "Muqam e Saydena Ali Karam Ullah Waj Ho Sahaba e Kram ki Nazar Mein" will be aired at 03:20 pm today. 

 

DAY

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is being observed today.

 

Its aim is to highlight ways and means to prevent desertification and drought at global level.

  

This year, theme of the Day is  “Our land,Our home,Our Future”.

 

KASHMIR-KILLING

In occupied Kashmir, six Indian policemen including a station house officer were killed in an attack in Islamabad district.

 

Some unknown attackers opened fire on a police party travelling in a vehicle in Achabal area of the district.

 

Two civilians also sustained bullet injuries in the shootout by Indian forces’ personnel.

In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their continued acts of state terrorism have martyred one more youth at Arwani in Kulgam district, raising the toll to five in the area since yesterday. 

 

Body of another youth was recovered from the debris of the two houses destroyed by the troops during a violent military operation in the area. Two bodies were recovered yesterday.

 

Two civilians were killed, yesterday, after the troops opened fire to disperse demonstrators who were protesting in the area against the military operation.

 

Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed in the occupied territory against the killing of youth by the troops.

 

Call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

 

On the other hand, puppet authorities have imposed restrictions in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killing of youth.

 

BREXIT

Formal Brexit negotiations will begin on Monday in Brussels.

 

In a statement, European Commission said negotiations will focus on issues related to citizens' rights, the financial settlement, the Northern Irish border and other separation issues, as part of the sequenced approach to the talks.

 

During the negotiations, European Union and United Kingdom will also discuss the structure of the negotiations and the issues that need to be addressed over the coming months.
