Lingering Kashmir dispute proving detrimental for South Asia: Gilani
In Occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman Syed Ali Gilani has said that the lingering Kashmir dispute is proving detrimental for South Asia and hundreds of millions of people living in the region are in a state of constant anxiety, confusion and uncertainty.
In a statement in Srinagar, he said there is every possibility of Jammu and Kashmir turning into a battlefield if practical steps are not taken for settlement of the decades old dispute.
He emphasized that any delay in the resolution of Kashmir issue could lead to a dangerous situation in the region.
On the other hand, activists from dozens of organizations staged a protest rally in New Delhi against the discriminatory policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in India.
The protestors carrying placards vowed that they would take on the communal and fascist forces head on.
They also highlighted human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters said that the people of Kashmir are being brutally silenced for demanding the withdrawal of armed forces from their territory.
