Train accident near Wazirabad occurred due over speeding: Report
The committee fixed direct responsibility on the driver, assistant driver and pointsman
The joint inquiry committee comprising officials of Railways Ministry and Pakistan Army in its report said that train accident near Wazirabad took place due to over speeding.
The committee was formed to determine the causes of the accident and fix the responsibility.
It said the speed of the train was double than the restricted speed of thirty km per hour in the area of accident.It stated that due to over-speeding, the tyre of engine was derailed first.
The inquiry committee considered all the possible causes of derailment viz, bridge, track, locomotives, sabotage which were ruled out or found inconclusive.
The committee fixed direct responsibility on the driver, assistant driver and pointsman.
The joint enquiry committee also recommended that appropriate action under efficiency and discipline rules be taken against all those found responsible.
