In Iraq , tens of thousands of civilians have been trapped as government forces are preparing to launch offensive on Falluja to recapture the city from Islamic State militants.

The U.N. humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Lise Grande told media the government blockade and shelling is closing exit routes and cutting off supplies to the city.

The Islamic State militants have also planted bombs at the entrance and exits to the city and on the main roads to prevent security forces entering or citizens leaving.
