State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued fresh currency notes worth two hundred and forty-nine billion rupees to meet the high demand on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Central Bank had made elaborate arrangements in this regard with a focus to cover maximum stakeholders, including the general public.

The State Bank issued one hundred and fifty-four billion rupees currency notes last year.

Out of this year's 249 billion rupees, around thirty-one billion rupees of lower domination notes and 218 billion rupees of higher denomination were issued to meet heavy payments and ATM needs of commercial banks.

Besides all sixteen offices of the State Bank, commercial banks across the country also provided fresh banknotes to their account holders and customers.
